Plasma
Plasma from summed sines — the first effect that needs no image.
Controls
- scale
- Distance between crests of the largest wave
- waves
- How many waves are summed. One gives even stripes, which is a gradient rather than plasma; four give the pattern that never repeats
- lacunarity
- How much shorter each next wave is. At one they are all the same length and stack into a regular lattice
- radial
- The share of circular waves. Straight ones give stripes, circular ones rings around a point; real plasma lives between
- cycles
- How many times the rainbow goes round over the whole range. One is a smooth blend, four the hard rings plasma is known by
- hue
- Turns the rainbow: the same pattern in different colours
- saturation
- A number from 0 to 1, 0.7 by default.
- lightness
- The lightness the pattern swings around. At either end of the scale there is nowhere left to swing and it washes out
- shade
- How much the pattern drives lightness as well as hue, which is what keeps it visible when the colour is turned off
