Spiral
Spirals and rosettes: two curves, rotated copies, a shaking pen.
Controls
- form
- A spiral’s radius grows with the angle and never closes; a rose’s swings, so it always does. Two laws, not two ends of a dial
- turns
- How many turns the spiral makes from the centre out. Few leaves air between them, many read as a textured fill
- petals
- Petals come out twice this number, because the radius is taken from the absolute cosine: three gives six
- arms
- How many evenly turned copies of the figure. One is the bare curve; several cross into a lattice and the drawing becomes a field
- wobble
- How much the radius trembles. At zero it is a drafted machine curve — the tremble is the only thing that makes it look drawn
- grain
- How coarse that tremble is. Fine reads as a rough nib, coarse as a figure pulled out of true by hand
- width
- A number from 0.2 to 10, 1.2 by default.

- A colour, #151a22 by default.
- background
- A colour, #f7f4ed by default.
