Typewriter
A typewriter impression — tone is built from the number of strikes.
Controls
- cell
- Type size, which is also the carriage step. On a typewriter the two are the same thing — monospace is the mechanism, not a font choice
- strikes
- How many blows land on the darkest place. This is how a typist gets tone: not a darker letter, but M over X over hash
- pressure
- How uneven the blow is. At zero every impression is identical, which no mechanical machine has ever managed
- slip
- How far a character misses its place. The second blow never lands exactly on the first, and that miss is where the texture comes from
- contrast
- A number from -1 to 1, 0 by default.
- ink
- A colour, #2a2622 by default.
- paper
- A colour, #efe9db by default.
