Interference

Waves spreading from points: two sources give hyperbolic fringes.

Interference: a generative effect on the built-in sample photograph. Computed on your machine right now.

Controls

sources
Two gives the classic Young fringes; three and more a lattice of spots; one is a wave with nothing to interfere with
wavelength
Distance between crests. It sets how fine the fringes are
spread
How far apart the sources stand. At zero they meet in one point and the fringes vanish — there is nothing left to interfere
rotation
A number from 0 to 360, 0 by default.
falloff
How fast a wave weakens with distance. At zero all sources shout equally, which is path-difference geometry rather than water
bands
At one the wave stays smooth; higher it is cut into bands of equal density, like a contour map or a moiré print
jitter
How far the sources stray from their circle. At zero the picture comes out machine-symmetrical
ink
A colour, #0d2b45 by default.
paper
A colour, #f7f3e8 by default.
