Wave distort

Rows shoved sideways by a wave: a tracking fault, not a deformation.

Wave distort: a glitch effect on the built-in sample photograph. Computed on your machine right now.

Controls

amount
How far a row travels at the crest of the wave
wavelength
How many rows make one period. Short is a tremble, long is a slow bend of the whole frame — two different faults
phase
Where on the wave the top of the frame lands. There is no animation here, so turning this is how you see the whole wave
jitter
The share of the shift that comes from a throw of the dice rather than the wave. At zero it is a perfect, and therefore dead, sine
decay
Fades the wave from top to bottom, the way tape wanders most before the tracking catches the line
edge
What happens at the edge: the row wraps around, smears out with its last pixel, or leaves an honest void
contrast
A number from -1 to 1, 0 by default.
